A search result can tell you what a bumper is. It cannot show a child the moment the bumper lights up because they drove into a wall, then the choice to turn. That loop is the real first lesson.
Robots do not magically know the room. They sample a few sensors, pick a next step, then move. The Senses lab keeps that loop tiny on purpose so it is visible on an iPad from kid viewing distance.
Senses and Parts are playable. Think and Act stay coming soon so the hub stays honest. Empty URLs would 404; coming-soon cards do not.
Buttons are large. The grid is square. Sensors sit under the floor so a child can see cause and effect without pinching a tiny joystick. A mouse still works on a laptop.
Sit beside them for the first puzzle. Ask what the bumper says before they press Forward. Let them fail and retry. There is no score that follows them, only a local checklist of solved puzzles.
This is not Scratch, ROS, Arduino, or a USB robot. There is no camera, no AI chat, and no maze editor. Those belong later, if ever, after the first hour feels easy.

A paragraph about sensors is easy for a search engine to summarize. A sandbox is not. Kids need to see the bumper change when they face a wall, then decide to turn. That loop (sense, think, act) is the actual idea of a robot, and it only clicks when they drive. Parents get a calm tablet session without accounts or hardware. Teachers get a shared activity that works in a browser. That is why this family exists as a lab, not as another explainer page.

Yes. The grid and buttons are built for tablet thumbs first, then phone and laptop. Tap Forward or queue steps, then Run. No app store install and no extra plug-in.
Sense is the three readouts: bump if a wall is ahead, light if the floor is a lamp, dim, or dark, and distance as empty cells ahead (0 to 3). Think is a list of at most six steps. Act is moving or turning, either one tap at a time or by running the list.

Solved Senses and Parts puzzles are stored locally in this browser under Justools keys. There is no account and nothing is sent to a server. Clearing site data on the device will reset the checklists.
Kids, parents, and beginners who want a calm first hour. You do not need a classroom kit or prior coding. If you already build robots in Scratch or on hardware, this lab is still useful as a tiny sensor demo you can finish in a few minutes.
